The use of EVP (electronic voice phenomenom) with in the Exmortis2 game was inspired by another point n click flash game by the name of Lost Found. I found that the most compelling feature of that game is how the storyline revolves around the mythos of a painting that supposedly depicts a ghostly figure in the background and the subsequent supernatural rumours about it bringing misfortune to it's owner's.
What made Lost Found an inspiring piece of work for me was that it had that element of "this story is based around a real life haunted object" - something that the original Blair Witch movie also utilised effectively.
In Exmortis2, I wanted to emulate that creepy feeling that I got whilst reading the backstory of that painting, and playing the Lost Found game.
I came up with the idea to use actual real life EVP recordings within Exmortis2 to achieve this objective. I won't divulge everything to you about which sounds are EVP and which are not - with the exception of one particular scene...
In the cellar scene, when you switch the CB radio to Channel 10 you will hear a gun fight confrontation in which the dialogue is spoken "Get the hell out of here!"... That line is one of the EVP recordings I've used within the Exmortis2 game...

I understand what EVP stands for but what exactly does it do? What do you mean when you say you used it? How do you use it and what does it do is what i'm basically asking.
EVP is basically a recording of a "ghost" or other phenomina that can be deciphered into a voice, a saying, or a sentence. the only way someone can "use" EVP is to prove or disprove a ghosts prescense. (sry about the spelling)
So that sound he said that he put in the game is supposed to be a recording of ghosts?
There are plenty of good EVP resources on the web that explain the process behind the recordings. I've come up with some very interesting results in the past, but keep in mind that 99% of all recordings require a great deal of creative listening to pick something out of the background noise.
Adobe Audition 2.0 has some great filters that make a hard job easy.
To answer the question about if they are recordings of ghosts - that is merely an associated assumption by many. Ghost Hunters have been using the method for about 80 years now, but there is no clearly definitive evidence that supports the notion.
One way or another, the results can sometimes be very startling.

For some Reason I can't figure out how to get out of the damn ranch house on exmortis 2. the Lochear Fields Ranch. I've only gotten to the part where you get in the cellar and listen to the cb radio. i've found a gun too and read the book in the cellar.
Ok,the dude that said he was stumped at the radio and stuff,go back to the first room in the ranch, then go upstairs.Go into the first room oposite of the room the Zippo lighter and the dead children are, click the top of the cabnet and you should take out a bible, now there should be a dagger in there.Take the dagger and leave the room, you cna do the rest from there.
